Good image viewer for Mac OS X

Posted by – May 7, 2010

Back when I used Windows 98 and XP, I loved the old versions of ACDSee for my image browsing. It was super fast, auto-fit images perfectly, and had a sweet image browser mode that made it easy to organize my images. I actually stuck to a really old version, 2.43 or 3.10 deliberately because feature creep slowed down the newer versions and added nothing I needed.

I kept looking for something like this for Mac OS X. I tried them all. Jview, ImageBrowser, JustLooking, Photo Browser, ViewIt, Xee, Xsee, CocoaViewX, and some others I can’t remember. None of them made it easy to see the directories and switch between directories and move images around. Even the built-in preview with Finder never auto-fitted the images properly (except on the first image).

I finally found the image viewer I always wanted for Mac OS X Sequential.

Thank you for sharing this James. You probably just saved me a few months of getting frustrated for one reason or another.

No problem. Actually I realized Sequential still isn’t quite as good as ACDSee for me, but it’s still the best image viewer I’ve seen so far.

    Footagehead is also very good.
